The Pennsylvania Gaming Board is holding a public hearing on August 31 to solicit input on the Mason-Dixon Resorts, LP slot machine license application located in Gettysburg. The casino site is again located in very close proximity to the battlefield and it would be a mistake to proceed with this plan. The Gaming Board is looking for input before making their decision. George Meade could follow up his recent victory in Pennsylvania by defeating Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee's army the Civil War would be over. |

A reader contacted me trying to track done information about a lithograph that his family owns. It is a stone lithograph, derived from Paul
Phillipoteaux's Gettysburg Cyclorama. Bill has been on a quest to determine who the exact artist was behind the lithograph and has done a fair amount on detective work so far. Below is Bill's first correspondence to me and a photo of the lithograph in question.

For the 4th year in a row attendance at the Gettysburg National Military Park is down. Still about 1.75M visitors to the park is a good-size draw. The park does expect things to pick up next year with the opening of the new visitors center and the newly conserved giant Cyclorama painting. Plus it will also be the 145th anniversary of the battle. I know I'd like to get out there again, but I'd prefer to wait for the new visitors center to open. Perhaps many others have a similar idea.
