What's an Original Set of John Bachelder Maps Worth?
In regards to my post, John Bachelder Documents Gettysburg for Posterity, on the story of John Bachelder and his documenting the events at Gettysburg run in the Washington Times, the author, John E. Carey posted the following comment on my site:
I wrote an article on John Bachelder for The Washington Times. Subsequently someone contacted me. They have the full set (one map for each day) of Bachelder's maps dated 1876.
Anyone know a rough worth?
John

I myself don't have a clue what a full set of these maps are worth, but I would imagine they would command a lot of money.
In regards to John himself, I see he runs a blog, Civil War Stories of Inspiration. John's bio from his site: Mr. Carey is founder and former President of International Defence Consultants, Inc. He has studied and read about the American Civil War since the Centennial at Gettysburg in 1963. He has visited battlefields, museums and artifacts in many states, North and South. He holds a Masters Degree (with honors) from a War College.
The last entry on the blog is dated July 12th. Apparently John is looking for a book publisher.
We are seeking a first rate publisher to handle a book of our most popular stories on the Civil War's most interesting people and events. Many of these stories are in the column below along with the table of contents, introduction and dedication. EVERY story listed in the index is written, edited, fact-checked and ready to go into a book! If you are an active and experienced publisher that can appropriately handle this work, please contact us at: jecarey2603@cox

I don't know if John had any success locating a publisher yet. I'll drop him an email and find out.
